Walnut Farm Gingerbread Village — December 15–19
Have fun as a family while making a gingerbread house to add to the Walnut Farm Gingerbread Village this year.
The gift is the process, not a specific outcome. Enjoy the activity with your child; don’t overthink it and don’t let it become a chore. Baking, building, and decorating are fun activities to do with children of all ages. Help your child to find joy in all parts of this bake, build, and decorate activity.
Want the easy way? Read below for options!
The Gingerbread Village will be set up in the school conference room for the week of December 15–19.
How to participate
- Use a 30 cm (12 in) square cardboard base covered with foil to build a gingerbread house/building/scene with your child.
- Before starting, write your child’s name and classroom on the bottom of the base.
- Bring your creation to school on Friday, December 12, or Monday, December 15.
- Be creative! Skip the pre-made kits from the store and collaborate with your child to see what they think would be fun to build.
- Looking for the easy button? Use graham crackers for a fast and simple build.
- Is your child more interested in decorating than building? Pre-make the house on the base and then present your child with the decoration options that they can use (icing, candies, etc) to stick on the house.
