Greetings Walnut Farm families,

It is with great excitement that we welcome you to your first viewing of the WFMS Newsletter.  Our staff is excited to offer our parent community the opportunity to receive Montessori wisdom, insight into the classrooms, pictures of our students in action, and updates about WFMS events all in one centralized location!  The format of this newsletter was designed with our parents in mind whether you are viewing this on your laptop or on your smart phone.  Additionally, the tabs will allow you to move quickly to each section and not only check out your student’s classroom, but also learn more about Montessori education and read about what’s happening throughout our campus.  Don’t forget to read the Parent Association update carefully.  Our wonderful PA has many great opportunities for parents to connect to others and support our school.  We hope that you enjoy this first of several newsletters that will be offered to our WFMS parent community this school year.

As you navigate this newsletter, you will notice that WFMS has an updated logo.  As a leader in Montessori education, we want to make certain that our school branding reflects the excellence that occurs each day at our school.  Further, our team will be launching an updated school website in 2017! As always, we are continually seeking ways to enhance the WFMS experience for current and potential families.

On a separate note, I want to thank our parents that recently joined our Montessori Journey.  Parents that participated in this event were able to visit each environment and experience life inside the Montessori classroom. Like students, parents were awed by the Montessori materials and deeply appreciative of the peaceful, nurturing atmosphere coupled with the guidance of passionate Montessori teachers.

I want to acknowledge our students and staff for leading a beautiful and inspirational Peace Day celebration. While our celebration was specifically for our WFMS community, our school was simultaneously joining a world-wide celebration. Hour by hour around the world, students and school communities sang “Light a Candle for Peace” in their respective languages as their declaration for our world.  Thank you parents for your participation. In our fast paced and sometimes chaotic world, your presence and participation in such a celebration confirms to our students, your children, that the work of peace is important and necessary.  In the words of Maria Montessori, “If help and salvation are to come, they can only come from the children, for the children are the makers of men.”

Looking forward, our Parent Association (PA) has been busy planning our 1st Annual Walnut Farm Family Days event.  On Saturday, October 22, from 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m., WFMS families and friends will join on our campus to experience a variety of fun family-friendly fall activities.  Mark your calendars and check out our PA section on this newsletter for registration and raffle ticket details!

Peace to all,

Ellen Beach
